The Business of Healthcare Podcast with Tara Humphrey

May 7, 2020

Meet Hector Smethurst the Founder of Appt Health. Appt Health is a tech company and a social enterprise working with Primary Care organisations to help improve the call and recall process making it easier for patients to access appointments. Hector set up his business from scratch having had the idea from working in a practice as a volunteer.

Hector joins me today to share his masterclass in how to make change using behavioural economics. He talks about how he uses the EAST framework in communications to encourage people to participate, and how at Appt Health they are always looking at ways to make it easier for patients. Hector also tells us about how his journey to Appt Health started with volunteer work, and how he saw how something could be better and built a company to fix it.

“We are trying to match commercial success with social impact, and we value the two equally.” Hector Smethurst
